Description:
The Hydrangea paniculata Vanille Fraise is a tall variety, reaching heights of 1.5 to 2.0 meters and widths of 1.2 to 1.5 meters, characterized by vertically growing and firm stems. This variety stands out with its impressive, dense flower clusters in the shape of wide pyramids with lateral protrusions at the bottom, measuring 25 - 30 cm, consisting of sterile flowers. Initially, the flowers are milky-white, then gradually change to a soft pink shade, and by the end of the flowering period, they acquire a saturated red, almost cherry-like color.
When grown in a container, it requires staking, but when grown in open ground, the large clusters only need to be staked during the first two years. Over time, adult specimens are able to support their powerful clusters without additional support. The plant is sensitive to pruning, and the size of the clusters directly depends on the length of the pruned stems: the shorter they are, the larger the clusters.
This variety is distinguished by its resilience and low maintenance, resistance to diseases and pests, easy adaptation to container growing, tolerance to excessive moisture, and abundant flowering even in partial shade. The Hydrangea paniculata Vanille Fraise is perfectly suited for various landscape solutions: it can be used for creating living hedges, looks impressive in compositions with evergreen plants, or as a standalone decorative plant.
