A herbaceous perennial (not a vine), 90–100 cm tall. The shoots are stiff and do not twine around supports, but may lean on them. The foliage is large and serrated. The flowers are bright blue, tubular, with four petals, slightly resembling hyacinths, small and fragrant. The petals are notched along the edges and strongly recurved. It blooms from July to September. In autumn, it forms fluffy seed heads. Particularly suitable for use in flower beds or among shrubs. Prefers a sunny or partially shaded location. Hardiness zone 4 (down to –29 °C).
