Blue Explosion is a medium-growing climbing vine reaching up to 3 metres in height. The leaves are simple and trifoliate, green in colour. This variety is distinguished by semi-double lilac-blue flowers with a diameter of up to 14 cm. On current-year shoots it blooms with single flowers in August–September, while on previous-year shoots it produces semi-double flowers in May–June.
