Latin name: Ribes nigrum 'Ruben'
Ruben is a mid-season, large-fruited blackcurrant with long, attractive fruiting trusses. The berries are glossy, dark, and have a strongly aromatic, tangy-sweet flavour, making them ideal for eating fresh and for processing.
It forms a vigorous shrub with good winter hardiness and reliable yields. Expect flowering in spring and harvest in July; it is notably resistant to gooseberry mildew and shows moderate resistance to leaf fall disease and currant gall mite.
