Hydrangea serrata Daredevil (Daredevil) is a compact, spreading shrub reaching up to 0.6 m in height and about 1 m in width, valued for its dark purple foliage that remains dark throughout summer and its bright pink to deep purple lacecap flowers. It blooms on current-year shoots, is undemanding and frost-hardy. Prefers partial shade and acidic soils with pH 4.5–5.5. Excellent for borders, mixed borders and containers, and the dried flower heads retain their colour through winter.
