Description
This variety is the most widespread and well-known in the world. It is incredibly decorative, unpretentious, blooms abundantly and for a long duration, and is very winter-hardy. The shrub reaches a height of 1.6–1.8 m and a diameter of 2–3 m. Its crown is round and wide-spreading, requiring tying during the heavy blooming period. The inflorescence is shield-like, large, 20–30 cm, consisting of dazzling white sterile flowers up to 2 cm in diameter, tightly pressed against each other. The flowering is profuse and lasts from June to September. The leaves are round, broadly ovate, light green on top and grayish underneath.
Growing Features
Prefers sunny or semi-shaded locations. It thrives in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic soils, and does not tolerate waterlogging or lime-rich soils. It grows quickly. This winter-hardy variety can withstand temperatures down to –35 °C.
Usage
Ideal for both single and group plantings, particularly effective as a living hedge.
