Description:

 Jewel is a hybrid of black-fruited raspberry, developed in the USA. It was bred in New York by crossing Bristol and Dundee varieties, from which Black Jewel inherited excellent taste and high market quality.
The bushes are tall, 2–2.5 meters, with straight, strong stems and numerous side branches where fruits develop. Medium-sized thorns, curving downwards. The leaves are bright green, large, and arranged in triplets. No root shoots, so the plant does not spread across the plot. The flowers are small, creamy, grouped in clusters of 12–15 flowers. Self-fertile, meaning it does not require other varieties for cross-pollination. The berries are round, medium-sized, weighing up to 2.5 g. When ripe, the skin is black and glossy, with a waxy coating between the drupelets. The flesh is firm and tender. The flavor is sweet, without acidity, with a fruity aroma and taste. The fruits grow in clusters of 12–15 berries. During ripening, the bush is covered with black berry clusters on all sides, making it highly decorative.
Ripe berries can stay on the bush for a long time, waiting for harvest, and they detach easily from the stem. They do not crumble, have good shelf life and transportability, making them ideal for commercial cultivation.
