Syringa vulgaris SENSATION

Lilac Sensation is a unique variety notable for its bicolor flowers, which are unusual for lilacs. The shrub is medium-sized and slightly spreading. It reaches a height of 2–2.5 meters and a width of up to 3 meters. The leaves are typical for lilacs — heart-shaped and dark green. The buds are deep purple. The open flowers are purple with a red hue, and each petal is edged with a bright, fairly wide, and highly contrasting white border. The flower shape is simple, with a corolla diameter of about 22 mm. The petals are slightly elongated with a rounded, concave tip, giving the flower a sculpted, textured look. The panicles are narrow and pyramidal, with flowers not densely arranged. Each inflorescence typically consists of one to two pairs of panicles, 18–20 cm tall and up to 8 cm wide. This is a late-flowering variety, blooming from late May to mid-June in temperate climates. The fragrance of Sensation lilac is light, very pleasant, and not overpowering.
